April 1, 2017
The 5th annual Puck-Off Cancer Classic will be held Saturday, April 1st at Michigan State University’s Munn Ice Arena. All proceeds generated from this event will be donated to the American Cancer Society in order to support those in the local Lansing community in their continued fight against cancer.
This event enables Michigan State students, local community members, and people from all across the country to join forces in honor of those who have been affected by the disease. Through two exhibition hockey games, 4 fraternities on campus compete against each in order to raise money for the cause.
Last year’s event was able to raise over $10,000 for cancer research and treatment, our goal for this year’s event is going to be $15,000.
Within Ingham county there are going to be over 1,500 patients diagnosed with cancer this year. Of those 1,500 people, 1 out of every 3 of them is going to call the American Cancer Society for help. The money raised will enable the society to help these people through their whole journey from diagnoses, to treatment, to post cancer survivorship, and beyond.
The American Cancer Society is working to finish the fight against every cancer in every community. We are the largest private, not-for-profit funder of cancer research in the United States, investing more than $4 billion since 1946. Thanks in part to our contributions, more than 1.5 million lives have been saved in the US in the past two decades. Now, that is a reason to celebrate, so please join us.
We hope to see you there!
For more than a 100 years, The American Cancer Society has been leading the fight to end cancer. With your support, we have helped usher in an era where more people survive cancer than ever before. By translating our research findings into action, we've seen a 20% decline in US cancer death rates since the early 1990s. Join us to help finish the fight.
